The Law Firm of Mertes & Mertes, P.C. recently issued a letter announcing the opening of its new office in Sterling, Illinois.  The text of that letter follows:

Attorney Magen Mertes Named to “Top 40 Under 40″

In May of 2010, Attorney Magen J. Mertes was honored to be named one of the Sauk Valley’s “Top 40 Under 40,” a title bestowed upon the top 40 professionals under the age of 40 in the Sauk Valley Area.

“I am grateful and thrilled to receive this honor,” Mertes said.  “We pour ourselves into our work so deeply,” she said.  “It was just so nice to know that it hasn’t gone unnoticed.”

Mertes attended law school in Washington, D.C., graduating in 2004 with high honors.  Thereafter, she has been a practicing trial and appellate attorney in northern Illinois, handling cases from the Chicago area to the Quad Cities.

“I thoroughly enjoy practicing law in Whiteside, Lee, Ogle and Carroll Counties, where I appear most often in court,” Mertes said.  “But I also enjoy practicing in all the many other counties to which I often travel.  The law is the same, but the procedures and traditions often vary from one courthouse to the next.  I try to take the best from each courtroom experience and incorporate it into my law practice,” Mertes commented.

“It is truly an honor to be named one of the Sauk Valley’s ‘Top 40 Under 40,’” Mertes said.  ”There are a lot of fine people on the list,” she said, “so it is humbling and gratifying to be named with them.”
